Beer Naming Competition Winner Announced
“I’d like a pint of Wafley Mouse please.” That’s what everyone's saying at The Halfway House.
‘Wafley Mouse’ is the competition-winning name for our brand new beer added to our hand pump line-up.
The name was submitted by Mary Wood when we launched a competition in December to name the new beer. Customers from far and wide put their thinking caps on to come up with a suitable name and Adam Cohen and his team were really impressed with the entries. “Some were serious, some were clever, some were quirky and some were just ridiculous!” he joked.
The beer has been developed by the expert team at Naylor’s Brewery in Cross Hills. It’s mid-brown in colour and made from a blend of three malts and two hops. The bitterness is well-balanced and it has a hoppy aftertaste.
With more than 80 entries, selecting the winner was tough but the team whittled them down to a shortlist of fifteen. “Shortlisting was a team effort,” added Adam. “And when it came to choosing the winner, we all loved the way Halfway House Wafley Mouse just rolls off the tongue!”
